Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our friendly staff and asked to complete a brief registration form. No appointment is necessary, and we strive to see patients as quickly as possible.
One of our experienced orthopedic specialists will conduct a thorough examination to assess your condition. This may include a physical evaluation and discussion of your medical history and symptoms.
If necessary, we will perform on-site imaging, such as X-rays, to get a detailed view of the affected area.
The specialist will diagnose your condition based on the exam and imaging results and explain the findings. You will receive a clear and concise explanation of the diagnosis and any contributing factors.
We will discuss and initiate your personalized treatment plan, which may include medication, physical therapy, splinting, or other interventions. We aim to alleviate your pain and promote healing as quickly as possible.
Before you leave, our staff will give you the information you need to schedule a follow-up appointment with the appropriate specialist. We are committed to providing continuous care and support throughout your recovery journey.

The urgent care centers at LBJI treat various orthopedic injuries and conditions. The urgent care center can evaluate and treat your condition if you have had a recent bone, joint, or muscle injury or possible sprained ankle, foot, or knee. The specialists will assess injuries to your upper extremities, such as hand, wrist, or shoulder injuries, including recent back pain. The urgent care centers also evaluate and treat sports and work-related injuries.

Your urgent care visit is billed as an office visit. If LBJI has an agreement with your insurance carrier, we will file the claim for you. Deductibles and co-payments are due at the time of your visit. We do not accept Medicaid.
We accept checks and credit cards.
If the specialist determines imaging is needed, X-rays can be performed onsite. MRIs need to be scheduled.
Our Crown Point and Portage urgent care locations are open until 6 pm Monday—Friday and Saturday from 8 am—4 pm.
If you require orthopedic care after hours, please visit your nearest emergency room.
If orthopedic follow-up care is needed, our specialists will give you the information you need to set up an appointment with one of our orthopedic physicians.
Comprehensive therapy services are available by appointment at our Chesterton, Crown Point, Portage, Schererville, and Valparaiso outpatient clinics. Our specialty-trained physical therapy experts help patients increase mobility, improve posture, and correct body mechanics through nonsurgical and postsurgical rehabilitation programs. LBJI’s physical therapy specialists work closely with you and your orthopedic doctor from evaluation to discharge. Our therapists work closely with student-athletes and the sports medicine staff at local high schools and universities within Northwest Indiana.
